Marigolds are easygoing plants that bloom reliably, even in direct sunlight, punishing heat and poor to average soil. Although she’s beautiful in the ground, growing her in containers is a surefire way to enjoy this delightful plant.
She is also prized for her anti-mozzie and anti-pests properties. Folklore for years has promulgated growing marigolds for insect control. As with many old stories it involves more than a grain of truth. Marigolds have eliminated root nematodes in gardens and fields, and they are grown in the tropics as weevil repellents. Whatever the reason, bordering your vegetable garden or any other insect‐sensitive garden spot with marigold is an attractive finishing touch, and chances are it will keep the bugs down as well.
They’re extremely easy to care for and thrives in our hot tropical climate.
